Protective Behaviours

Our Protective Behaviours for Young Children programs aim to provide children with skills and strategies to recognise and respond to a range of unsafe situations.

Our specialist counsellors provide a safe and interactive environment where children can engage in education-based directed play through activities and games. It is designed to help children negotiate the world in a safe manner – to understand body safety, to gain confidence around their rights and to speak up if they are, or have been, in a situation where they have felt unsafe. It is important to note that this program does not promote the notion that children are responsible for their own safety, as that responsibility lays with the adult/s entrusted to care for that child.

This is a group program that provides encouragement, support and education - through information, structured activities and handouts. To participate in the program, parents and/or caregivers are asked to commit to supporting the child/ren attending an 8-week group with each session lasting 1 hour.

This is a program that provides encouragement, support and education with the following additional objectives

To participate in the program, parents and/or caregivers are asked to commit to supporting the child/ren attending an 8-week group with each session lasting 1 hour.  Each week will focus on a different aspect enhancing safety and learning about protective behaviours, and consists of: Structured activities, drawing, games and stories.
