Children and Families Program
Laurel Place Children and Families Programs offer counselling and support for children and young people who have experienced recent or past sexual abuse, or may be at risk of experiencing child sexual abuse. Along with this, we offer a range of options and support to non-offending families/carers of children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.
Our counsellors can also provide counselling and support for children who display sexualised behaviours or harmful sexual behaviours up to the age 10. Young people over this age will be referred to our RESET Program.
Our counsellors utilise child-centered and trauma-recovery approaches, to support young people and their families with the impacts of trauma resulting from child sexual abuse.
In addition, we provide educational programs for children on topics of body autonomy and safety.
Referrals to the Children and Families program can be made by the Department Child Safety, Qld Police Service, Qld Education, health practitioners, or other community organisations using the referral form (download link). We also accept self-referrals.

What to expect if you call us seeking support...
1. Your call will be transferred through to a member from the First Response Team or we may call you back at a time that suits you
2. The First Response Counsellor will collect some basic information.
You do not need to share information about your experience at this time.
3. We have several programs and locations, our First Response Counsellor will link you in with the service that best suits your needs.
