Our First Response Program is the first point of contact and the beginning of the Intake process for all referrals to Laurel Place.

Whether you call us to self-refer, or we receive a referral for you from another service-provider, our First Response Counsellors will take your call or contact you by phone as soon as they are able to.

They will provide a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space for you to talk about your situation. They may ask questions about other support services you’re involved with, what is going on for you right now, if anything has changed recently, the region where you are living etc.  

 

You do not need to share information about your experience at this time unless you wish to do so.

 

They will then direct your referral to the Laurel Place program that best suits your needs. With your consent, they may also facilitate a referral to another support service if it would be beneficial.

Our Counsellors are qualified and experienced sexual assault trauma specialists who are able to answer any questions you may have to help you decide whether you wish to engage with Laurel Place. This includes information about our confidentiality policy, and our reporting guidelines should we have any concerns for your safety or the safety of someone else.

Self-referrals to the First Response Program can be made by telephone.

Referrals from other service-providers can be made using one of our referral forms and sent to one of the following email addresses:
